Offshore Instrumentation Technician

Seeking experienced and safety-focused Offshore Instrumentation Technicians to support operations on offshore oil and gas production and drilling facilities located off the coast of Eastern Canada, contributing to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical process and safety systems.

Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems associated with oil and gas production, utility, drilling, and safety systems. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams, the Instrumentation Technician will help ensure maximum equipment reliability and regulatory compliance while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Calibrate, test, and troubleshoot pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
  • Maintain and repair safety systems including ESD, F&G, and process control systems.
    Diagnose faults within PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
  • Inspect, maintain, and verify control valves, actuators, analyzers, and associated field devices.
  • Execute maintenance work in accordance with approved procedures and maintenance plans.
    Support facility shutdowns, turnarounds, and commissioning activities.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, and regulatory documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician certification or Technology Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial instrumentation experience, preferably within offshore oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, ESD, and Fire & Gas systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience working within computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.
  • Required safety training will include BST (with HUET), H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, WHMIS,  Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection and HAET
